Lima, Peru

Wow it´s hot!

sunny 29 °C

We´re in Peru! It was really scary when we arrived at 1am as we didn´t have a hostel or anything. I was 100% relying on a little Spanish book I bought in America to help us out. It has now become our bible! No one spoke English and although it´s a bit of a nightmare flicking from page to page trying to find the right phrase it´s been super helpful. We got a taxi to the cheapest and closest hostel to the airport which seemed to be in a pretty rough area but it was fine as we were only staying there for one night.

Feeling pretty jetlagged, we woke up and headed to a Taca Airline Office to try and get our refund for the flight we had to pay for to get into Lima. It turned out to be a nightmare and I have to wait in Peru for at least another 20 days to get a cheque as I had paid on a debit card. We have no idea what we´re going to do. Maybe go to Huayacina and Cusco to go sandboarding and do the Inca Trail and Machu Pichu and then come back to Lima to get my cheque and then head to Bolivia nad the Rio. It makes us think we may have to extend our South American leg but that´s fine with me.

Once we´d sorted out the refund we once again had no idea where to go. With not many wi-fi spots we knew we had to head to McDonald´s as they always have wi-fi (we thought we´d gotten away from the fast food when we left America!) with my tablet about to run out of battery we had no idea how we were going to find a good hostel. Grumpy and tired with our McChicken Nuggets we looked out the window and BOOM ´Backpackers Hostel´how lucky was that?! We walked in to book a room and it´s the most incredible, coolest hostel ever. All thanks to McDonalds! Loads of travellers here and the best thing is A PING PONG TABLE! We´ve signed up for a ping pong tornament tonight! Haha! It´s honestly ace. So going to stay here for a couple more nights and chill out, enjoy the sun and then I guess head to Ica! So after a very nerve racking start we are now 2 very happy travellers :)
